Just Womens Sports has funding from a number of investors focused on ensuring womens sport is given equal opportunity to attract, retain and develop spectators and fans globally, creating role models and working towards womens teams and sport stars being talked about around the world in the same ways as mens teams and sport stars are.

Sport England have developed a 10 year plan to work with sporting bodies, clubs, assocations and communities to increase the nations activity levels, Golf has a role to play in this as the healht benefits of golf are widely understood.

“The evidence is overwhelming that moving our bodies – through community sport, fitness and physical activity – improves our lives, individually and collectively.”

The R&A highlighted a report from Syngenta Golf, which focused on the potential revenue growth in golf if more women participated in golf.

This has led to an increased interest in attracting and retaining women in golf, with a range of get in to golf programs for women and girls.

In May 2024, Baroness Nye, member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Golf discussed the value of Golf to the UK economny, based on research from Sheffield Hallam Univeristy in a Motion to Take Note in The House of Lords in May 2024.

“Eighteen holes is the equivalent of walking four to five miles—significantly more than the 10,000 daily steps recommended—and if that is not enough, research from the Swedish Golf Federation has shown that golfers live five years longer than non-golfers.

The benefits to the economy can also be calculated. Research by Sheffield Hallam University, supported by the R&A, in 2023 showed that the gross value added of the golf industry was £2.6 billion and that it brought £338 million to the UK economy in inward golf tourism, with consumer spending on golf being nearly £5 billion, and the industry employs nearly 64,000 people.”

In addition there are 40,000 volunteers who create and deliver the golf experience in England.
